Height: 5’8” / 172cm Weight: 135lbs / ~60kg
My name is Dewi Weber and 2022 will be my rookie season on the LPGA. After competing on the Symetra Tour for three years, I earned my full LPGA card this past November through a T-10 finish at Q-Series.
I’ve always been an athlete, however, unlike my peers, golf hasn’t always been my passion. At age 12, a tennis injury prevented me from joining my teammates on the court and I was forced to find something else to fill my time and release my pent-up, angsty, pre-teen energy . Out of fear that I would start painting on their wall or invited all the neighborhood kids to destroy their house, the my parents started bringing me out to the golf course with them. Slowly but surely, they introduced me to the sport that I now know and love. The game of golf has challenged me both physically and mentally, but has truly shaped who I am today. For example, I’ve learned how to set and achieve goals by practicing discipline and facing challenges head-on. I’ve also learned the importance of putting in the work even when nobody is watching and what it means to be dedicated and determined.
Before turning professional, I played for the Dutch National Team as an amateur starting at age 14. A lot of my fondest competition memories come from that time. I played in tons of tournaments, worldwide. I got to visit places I normally wouldn’t think of going to and got to play courses I could’ve never imagined playing. One of my favorite tournaments I played while being on the National Team was the World Amateur Team Championship in Japan (2014). It was coincidentally also the first time I thought about turning golf into a career someday.
Instead of turning professionally at the age of 18, I decided to go to college instead. I ended up playing golf for the University of Miami, in Miami, Fl. This would be my home for the next 6 years. I had a successful college career, finishing my degree in 3.5 years, winning three tournaments and finishing second in the NCAA Individual Championship.
I started my pro career in March 2019 on the Symetra Tour. Here, I utilized my time to improve my game, address my weaknesses and dial-in my strengths to prepare myself for competition at the highest level. I am eagerly awaiting my rookie year on the LPGA. Competing at this level has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m dedicated to working hard each day to continue competing among the best golfers in the world.
